The venue

Birds Eye Cove Farm is a working farm in Maple Bay, in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. The celebration is in their timber-frame barn: soaring wooden beams, string lights, and a wall of glass looking out over green fields to the forest and the cove.

Good to know

Getting to the farm

The farm is in the countryside about 15 minutes from Duncan, and there's no public transport nearby. Plan to drive, share a ride, or book a taxi in advance — especially for the journey home.

What to wear

It's summer, but evenings by the water cool down quickly — bring a layer for later on. Comfortable shoes are a good idea on the farm.

July weather

Usually warm and dry, around 20–28°C in the afternoon. Sunscreen and sunglasses recommended for the outdoor parts of the day.
